Safe to hang a mountain bike for storage?
I'm hanging it by the fork. I've seen the racks they have at bike shops that hang the bike by the front wheel, but is it acceptable to do this on a daily basis for weeks at a time between rides? I'm organizing my garage :D

Yeah, your fine.

Cool... wasn't sure if it would screw up bearings or bend anything. I heard that hanging aluminum bike frames for long periods of time was bad for them a long time ago.. probably just an urban legend.

The only truthful bad side-effects I've heard regarding hanging bikes is when you hang suspension forks upside down and oil can leak through the seals.

got hydraulics? hanging the bike will cause tiny bubbles to rise towards the high end. The next time you pull it down you'll find yourself needing to bleed the brakes.

And I believe those are limited to older forks with the crappy seals they used to use. Most forks today don't have this problem. yet another reason to go rigid. if you ever see me riding suspension please kick me in the balls. (unless its hardcore DH, thats ok) |

Careful on the "truthful" thing. The "truth" may be fork specific or just folklore. Al |

Don't put your Manitou's upside down. Just had to rebuild my buddy's fork this past weekend!
