I Was Just Watching...

some videos from Crankworx and was wondering, how in the world do guys do tailwhips on a mountain bike? Their cables are all weird and I would think they would kink up or something, unless they're like linear cables.

Maybe they have a gyro for the cables, like on bmx flatland bikes?

You can run a BMX star nut and run the front cable down through the head tube inside the steerer tube on the fork..

You run the rear derailleur cable and rear brake cable together in marital bliss all the way back. (a little extra cable so you can wrap it around a full turn)

Then you can do tailwhips and barspins.

There is a company that makes a gyro that is specific for hydraulic disc brake lines. Don't remember the company that makes it though.

Somehow I can see it I ever tried that with just running more cable, I'd end up accidently trying to do it twice in the same direction... can't see that one ending well.

I saw a pic of one of the bike, and he just had the cables running through the HT like chel said, and for brakes, he just had long lines for the brakes.

Same. Most whips look unsmooth. Especially when there multiple ones. And those ones look sooo smooth.

But whips suck with clipless because you're feet pop out from time to time, and I have no idea if a tail whip would even be possible on a bike with clipless.

Something tells me I would have to spend many months at the foam pit with a practice frame before I ever had to worry about how I was going to actually modify my bike

. . . But when you do try, you'll realize you're on a bike with a dual crown fork too late.

I think the move I'd realistically like to learn is a 360 - - which I could do with a DC anyway.
