Lookin for Advice on a good 80s Mtn Bike

hi I am looking for advice on a good decent sturdy 80s mtn bike. I am looking to add a xtracycle to it and use it everywhere! Brand suggestions? THanks!!

Why 80's? It's ancient technology. If you're looking to go cheap, look for a 800 or 900 series Trek from the 90's. Pretty much bulletproof, and $100-$200 on Craigslist on the high side.

First ya gotta tell what an extracycle is... Maybe I'm out of the loop here. The Stump jumper was the sweet ride in the late 80's...it was good enough Ned.

not sure if you already have the xtracycle, but the surly big dummy is intriguing.

I'm looking too for a single speed fun conversion.

Anything Fat Chance, if you can find it. More like late '80s, early '90s, but sweet. And you get that "hip" and "cool" factor for owning one.

Lots of bike out there. Peaple seem to think they're junk if they don't have suspension. I have a Redline Mahatten Trek 700 Giant Sedona and my newest a Fat Chance.

I would think the size is probably the most important thing to look for. All the bikes are cofortable and trouble free.

The Giant was a resurected throwaway the I have beat on and abused for years but it just keeps going. Quad butted Chromoly (sp) still strong and straight. The Redline is a "city bike" but built like a MTB. It has rode trouble free for years. The trek 700 was a dump find and rides just fine. The Fat Chance unbelievable. I thought it was small for me 19" I'm 6'1" but seems just big enough. I did not relized how prized a bike it is before I rode it. I am amazed a how smooth and resposive it is. It begs to be ridden hard.
