Really?

It had a lot more ventilation than the Rampage I have now. And short of something carbon from TLD, are there any fullfaces that are significantly lighter? I didn't find any when I settled on the Fox last summer.

Sorry, I felt bad after I posted that, not your fault you have to be stuck with the lame trails in your area. OTOH using ff/armor on those trails remains pretty lame...

Wow! Moto-x bikes with drum brakes, really does bring back the memories of me'ol suzuki!... but I wasn't talking that far back.

Sorry to hit the sore nerve there Dm. I have always been a proponent of full face helmets (in the track) because of personal experience (doctors had to stitch-up my upper lip which tore apart when my motorbike handlebar swung into my face during a crash). Now it may be a non-issue for many of us, but I noted my observation that some people (not all) do struggle with a FF helmet when worn for the first time including modern designs with large openings... but there are ways to get over that.

Regarding the topic... the light weight ones can be super expensive and are likely to be one-crash-throw-away numbers. The DH versions are getting lighter but still may be too heavy and hot to be worn for hours (not cheap either). Up to the OP I guess.

I had one of the early molded plastic shell Troy Lees with the detachable bolt-on jaws. Even back then they were terribly expensive. That was pretty light and cool enough, but it was bright electric blue with wild orange stickers all over... not something I'd want to wear around easy trails.

Hey, easy on me. You should have seen the first-generation Stars.

I, being the stylish dude that I am ()couldn't leave well enough alone, of course, without some fashion statement; so it often sported a fuzzy stocking-hat pom-pom on top:

Hilarious is right. I approve of the pom-pom. I gotta ask, though. Did you get a cool robot voice generator with that lid? I saw it and immediately wanted to dance the robot and sing Styx, "Mr. Roboto".

I find it hotter than my other helmets but I also am not happy with the fit of the helmet. None of my friends fit that helmet either...maybe we all have weird shaped heads or something.

As for weight, I've used that helmet when winter commuting on REALLY cold days (i.e., -30C plus the WC) and I really noticed the effect of the weight of the helmet on my neck while and after riding. Granted, my other FF helmets are TLD carbons so the weight comparison may not be fair and my really cold riding winter setup now consists of a skate lid so I haven't used the carbons for commuting. I'll actually weigh them both tonight and see what the difference is just for fun.

The Pryme fit my head really well, actually. I considered getting another one to replace it briefly, but the Fox lid fit pretty well and I wanted something with a removable, washable liner since foul helmet odours have no place in my home.

The TLD also fit pretty good, but I would have needed the XL which looked pretty wide on my head. And of course the pricepoint was a choking point.

I'll weigh them and post up as well.

More evidence that many helmets should be tried on to find that perfect fit. I tried on a lot and found that my head has expensive taste!

^ +1 same, but my pocket is cheap!

Yeah, we all have different shaped/sized heads. I'm just glad helmet fit seems to differ between different brands. Imagine if they were all the same!
