Germany Ride Report, With a few Pictures this time

Well, Today was an absolute beautiful day here in Germany, Sun was up, shinin' good and strong. Mid to upper 70's.... breezy, just awesome..... I had to go for a ride.

I went and re-adjusted my brakes,(made sure the rears had toe-in) both front and back, cleaned the front rotors and inspected pads, and then scrubbed the rear braking surface good with a Mr. Clean Sponge..... NO MORE SQUELCHING!!!
Lubed er up, and then I was off.

I did road riding, urban, mountain, and a bit of downhill (nothing serious, just feels cool to say it, haha) stuff today.

I did a 13.80 mile road run in 55 minutes, I just kept going 'round n' 'round the base, up and down the hills, (mostly up, the way the base is set up.)
I also decided to go exploring in the woods a bit, while I was riding on the road I found this grown in path so I ventured in. (For my off-road and urban ride ventures, I paused the computer, so in all, I probably rode 15-16 miles in 1 hour 20 mins or so, IDK, while I was in the woods I just wanted to chill.)

Halfway through my ride, My camera Died..... so Y'all don't get to see me hammer the jump I found =(
This trail is where I found some interesting stuff (see pics below)

--I know they're nothing spectacular, I had anticipated getting some action shots off the jump and stuff,... but didn't happen... stupid battery. But, I promised pics of my next ride, and... well here they are, lol

To save on forum space, A slide show!

- it cycles through fast, so what works best is if you stop it, and then manually click the arrows.
Sorry for some of the poor quality, and some of the... pointless? stuff.
The camera doesn't show the justice of some stuff because of the lighting and leaves.

but I promised, lol =)

For the stairs....... there were 10 flights, over 100 stairs I believe, I rode down it... fun fun... Got odd looks from the people at the park at the end, haha

Shouldn't this be in the "Ride Report" thread?

Anyway, Cheeto, if you're trying to to get serious, retire the Nealy book and pick up Mastering Mountain Bike Skills by Lopes/McCormack.

Lotta holes there - - more than in the Albert Hall?

Glad you're getting out and exploring your world. Thanks for the pics.

The book was a gift from a guy who is 50+ years old, (has a like a 1980's schwinn road bike, lol) r so I figured I'd give it a go, I actually haven't read it in like 6 months, and I never finished it,lol.

- I dont learn by books anyway. Experience is the best teacher in my book,'

Yea, I want to go back and actually look around in the holes to see what they're all about.... IDK,

Close by there's a huge ammunition dump as well, just I'm not allowed back there =/

LOL Chel, I take a picture of the stairs I walk down/up to and from school everyday...
Now those stairs will be a blast to ride down...

and they also have these benches, but all they are are wooden planks on top of rocks, perfect skinny's lol... just hop up on em, and they step down lol.

I was going to take a pic of my little brick area I have fun on, but my cam died.

I did a few more drops today, pushing the frame a bit, but I know how to use my body as a shock (thank you BMX) so the 2-3 foot to flat isn't as devastating.
I just have to remember to take the fork off lock-out.

The slide show isn't working???!?!?

You should just have to click it.

hmmm...

lol Gastro, BTW.. I am already "serious" no trying involved =p

I also owe Y'all a vid of me jumping..

knowing my luck, after doing it like 5 times today perfect, Ill totally jack up for the camera.... which then you guys get to see a spectacular crash, and watch me roll down hill in a heap of gear and bike lol!

Oh, I also had to make a few repairs along the way.
My headset came loose.... again.. It's been doing this since I bought the bike, and the stock one has since been replaced by a cane creek, and it still wiggles loose...... I noticed it on my long stair run.... I was really trying to baby it then, lol.
and I played with the my handle bar adjustment, trying to save my back... IDK if what I did worked, (I just turned it a bit so the rise would help me not lean as much) I'll see next ride.

Once you get more experience you may realize that's not always the case.

Regardless of one's experience, Brian Lopes is one of the most consummate riders on this planet and what he knows is far more than what 99% of MTB'ers know.

I wasn't going to try an argue that point lol.
I was just saying I'd rather ride, than read
=)

especially now that I got my own little area to get some jump-age lol. I'm going to go clean it up a bit and make the jump a little better.

Those stairs would be fun. Nice little hop right before, with a nice bumpy landing on the stairs would be fun.

Thanks,
Figured it'd be easier on the forums than to load them all.

Yea, I'm going to include those stairs in my daily runs now (my rims are thanking me haha) Problem is is I got 60 psi in my tires right now.... for the road... -_-

I'm reading the Lopes book, right now. Holy comprehensive. Good shizz.

Single-Track Mind by Paul Skilbeck is a bit old school, but okay.

Went out again today, had my girlfriend take some vids,
Ill post them in a bit..

blew out my tire on the jump.. (actually the thorns tore the tube....... but oh well)
So I did it once, and decided my tire was just way to low to ramp.... It was a wobbly decent.

Glad your having a good time. I put in a lot of miles with the old Raleigh Elkhorn when I was in Bitburg from 85 to 88. After a few years you'll be an expert in your area and can lead some great rides to the new guys coming in.

well, Heres the vids and stuff from May 18th 2009.

I'm still new to some of the Stair riding, and I'm trying not to over do the bike, but I'm open to any tips/ adivice if you see something wrong with my form and such...
My girlfriend, not the BEST camera operator (haha) but it works...

for the Dirt jump... I filmed the first run (my warm up) and went to hammer it hard the second time around and my tire jumped the bead....... flat... and the first run isnt worth posting, so Ill spare you.

For this one, she was to far down to see my jumping the stairs, I rode down the longer sections, Not 100% confident on the integrity of my bike for this stuff
