Melissa "Missy" Giove part of huge pot bust - - a Thanksgiving update

I admit I did/do not follow professional mountain biking, but this was in the local paper. I'm sure people here have heard of her.

Damn that's alot of weed.

Just wondering, how dumb do you have to be to carry 400 pounds of pot in your truck?

Looks like she was going to make a comeback. Everyone knows you can't ride downhill without the chronic.

Supports the theory of mountain bikers being a bunch of pot smoking slackers.

Yell heah!!! One of my all time fav's!

I kinda miss the Missile. You need a few of those flamboyant characters to keep a sport lively and not always taking itself so seriously.

She's been racing in the East - I've seen her a few times over the past couple seasons. Although her demeanor is pretty chill now compared to what it was during the NORBA/WC glory days. I guess it was the chronic.

It's unfortunate that she got caught breaking the law.

you prolly get in just as much trouble for hauling 50lbs as you do for 200, and what they should make a hundred trips? not to mension they would searched her house anyway, well we caught you carrying 5lbs of pot, and found another 395 in your house

she shouldlnt' have takin the truck from someone she didn't know since the DEA dropped it off, isn't that how it works? I don't know you, how do i know your not a cop ect ect. But i guess with all the weed...

True that. Called to mind the Sam Brown incident earlier this year. At least this hasn't ended so tragically.

On the bright side: If Missy does time, she's at least got enough tats going in that she could be her own gang. Everybody should steer clear and give her her space .

First link I've seen today that mentions there was a setup by an informant. Figures, if this guy was in charge:

"Drug trafficking can lead you downhill fast," DEA Special Agent in Charge John P. Gilbride to said in a news release. "From championship mountain biking to street level drug dealing, the only reason people turn to drug trafficking is to make a profit from the sale of illicit narcotics."

Sergeant Standanko lives.

Are you actually trying to rationalize her actions? The point here is that she shouldn't have been trafficking and/or holding any amount of illegal drugs.

it's an academic argument. IF one is to traffic drugs, THEN this is how one should go about doing so.

^^ Or it could be a modern-day story-problem - - y'know, much like the old 'you have a fox, a hen and a bag of corn: how do you get them all across the river with one boat and without any being eaten?'
