Chain Question

Is there anything wrong with running a 9 or 10 speed chain on an 8 speed drivetrain? Ive been having problems with the pins of my current chain hitting the teeth of the next largest cog and its resulting in noisy imprecise shifting. So i thought a solution may be to a run a 9 or 10 speed chain because i would assume they are narrower.

the main problem with doing just that is that it will not solve the root issue... whatever that may be. dont treat the symptom they say.

ive put 9spd chains on 8spd cassettes and it seems to work.
