So today was day one back on the bike full time.

Sadly, no pictures, no real exciting picture opportunities today, plus I forgot to recharge the batteries as well. The ground was hard and dry, conditions were perfect except that there was a bad head wind.

So, how was it? You all healed up now?

I got home and decided to grab the mtn bike and go for a spin around the neighborhood. I ended riding for about 2 hrs. Nothing exciting. Hit some jeep trails, but they were pretty tame. Rode around the local industrial area and was looking for some jumps/drops but everything around here is BORING! I cruised through a couple neighborhoods and into a park. Saw a very nice looking woman rollerblading. Said, "Hello" and she smiled back and waved. That's always a confidence boost! Hit a couple of small drops. Hit a nice little bermed grass area and played around there for awhile. Realized it was getting dark and I didn't bring the lights so I headed home.

That was it for me!

Still having minor problems with ghost shifting. Whenever I land from a jump, the chain wants to climb into the next gear. Also, randomly it'll shift. I've checked the derailleur hanger, put on a new chain and cassette. I think it's the hanger. I'm gonna replace it. One's on order.

Sorry, no pics. The one of the Rollerblader would've been nice!!!!

That great Kona rider. Glad to hear you are back in the saddle...literaly :D...

A2, congrats on the woman. A good hello always helps the ego. Glad to see you got out too. As for your ghost shifting, ever consider a chainguide?

I need to get one. Just not a priority right now. I'm running a double with a bash guard. I keep debating between an MRP Long Range Patrol and an EVIL DRS. I really like the look of the Evil.

What are you running? Any recommendations?

What do you think of the Blackspire? Do they have one for a double chainring?

Oh forgot to mention. I was practicing riding "skinnies" by riding curbs all night.

I'm getting pretty good. I can now pretty much ride as far as I want on a curb (maybe only 6" wide). I was getting kinda conceited and started riding wheelies!!! Not far, but still getting the front wheel up and going a couple crank turns while up on a curb felt pretty good.

Blackspire is good. But I am partial to evil. Quiet, does the job and doesn't drop a chain. Evil does for sure I am unsure about blackspire. But blackspire stuff is 5 hole specifc (shimano) I believe.

Dannihilator 06-21-04 10:04 PM

Evil can be had in 5 bolt as well.

Sweet. Gotta get you out here on some interesting stuff. Its pretty amazing what they do with wood. I wil be getting some pics when I start riding those trails more. :)

And how would you know? I still have the guide part of your evil guide... you only got a fancy bashguard on there.. hahaha ;) You'll have it soon enough though!

Awsome to see you guys all got out to ride!

I too got out for a quick urban ride around town with a buddy, headed down a nice hill with a few sets of stair drops all of maybe only 6 feet high, anyways, I got a flat (pinch flat) right at the bottom... so that ended the night pretty fast  Still was cool to get out even for the short little bit, we hiked it back home... and of course while hiking the ever so lovely kids driving in their 1985 ford escort yelled out "facking pissies" (get my drift?) anyways, noticed there was a red light and hauled arss on the flat tire to catch em at the light, just to scare the piss outa em, but unfortunately I was 5 feet short before the light turned green.. hahah DANG!

I have done that before, almost made a kid cry, was out skating and the dude yelled something similar and the dumbass didn't realize as he was yelling that a train was coming, so guess what...... he got stuck there.. HAHAHAHA and to his suprise his door flung open and he got pulled outa the jeep..... bwwwwaaa haaaaa haaaa. And I just yelled at him and shoved him around a little, I aint gonna hurt the kid or nothing (since we've all done it when we were kids) just had to have some fun scaring him... HAHA. The other guys I was skating with didn't even know where I went and then saw me pulling the kid out. Anyways the kids was all "I'm sorry man, I was just messing around, I really like skaters... don't hurt me... " HAHAHHA... I'm betting he thinks twice about doing that again. Or at least hopefully he's smarter next time..

Sorry, just had to share that little story. :D

So Konarider give us some more details about your ride!

Dannihilator 06-22-04 09:14 AM

Total miles 20 rode to the trail yesterday which was two miles there and back, 18 mile trail ride. Was basically xc, still can't beat the hand up too much, there were some climbs, not too many, was spent by the end of the ride. That is expected though after a full month off the bike.

Sorry. I meant blackspire I believe is exclusively 5 bolt. No 4 bolt option (last time I checked) I wasn't saying Evil wasn't one or the other. :D

a2psyklnut 06-22-04 10:12 AM

Yeah, I running my Truvative 4 bolt, so the Duelie is not an option.

I think I'm going to have to break down and plunck down some cha ching for the Evil.

Any of you guys know anyone with an Enduro SX and what they're running on their bikes?

I guess the question being, should I get the E-type mount that many of the SPecialized frames use or stick with the standard??? If I go with the E-type, that means a new front derailleur as well. Right? I probably could use one anyways!

Here's a couple of photos taken at the turnaround point on my (semi) regular weeknight, get-out-of-the-house-for-30-mnutes ride. From my house, it's about a mile down to the bay, where you can explore some paved and unpaved trails going up and down the shoreline and through new housing developments.

A short, flat ride without much drama, but a great leg-stretcher...and the sunsets are often fantastic!

Maelstrom 06-22-04 10:19 AM

E-type is for interupted seatpost. I don't think you need one if you have the seatube that the deraileur mounts too.

And slc...I have used an evil...just not my own yet ;)

Very Nice photos. I could show you a picture of my ride last night, but just go outside and to your nearest intersection and look around. Traffic pretty much looks the same wherever you are!
