Downieville...Tahoe...Mammoth...Canell Plunge

Im driving from SD to Boise Id, and will be riding on the way. Haven't figured out my route yet, and was hoping to meet up with some folks who know the areas above. I must be in Id on the afternoon of the July 10th, and will leave SD around Mon/Tues the 6th/7th.

Anyone going to be riding in those areas mid-week of next week, let me know.

Aren't the areas you've listed in your thread title quite out of the way of your route?

SD to Boise

Some of the locations are out of the way, and some aren't.

I'm heading straight to Mammoth, then gonna push on to Boise. Downieville is out of the way for sure, but the others are pretty close to my route. Anyone with trail info for mammoth, let me know.

Actually Downieville isn't that far off the route, but your time frame is pretty tight and you can't have all of them in any case...Mammoth should be the least interesting IMHO. Good luck...I might be able to help out if I were in the neighborhood, but am busy out here in Colorado enjoying some great singletrack!

Colorado

I lived in Colorado for 11 years, so I'm quite familiar with the great singletrack that exists there. If you're near Crested Butte, do the Deadman's Gulch ride (don't remember the full name), it's ultra-classic. Monarch Crest Trail is also fantastic.

Thanks,
DR

The day we scheduled Reno/Flag/Bear/Deadmans it had rained all night and was still threatening too much so most of us opted for something closer and roadish in case the trails were still too soft. Three of our fastest riders decided to do RFBD, but came back with the report of too many cows on the end of Flag and much of Bear, made it not so good. Local reports aren't recommending it for same reason.

Our gathering for 4th of July here is breaking up, so am heading to Salida this afternoon, have a morning shuttle for the Crest...wouldn't miss it while I'm out here (been here many times). Good luck on your Boise journey...
