Retirement is an illusion created by industrialists... introduced in the 1800s when families were large in number and it didn't cost the economy much because the mortality age was often lower than the set retirement age.

Since the post WWII generations introduced 'family-planning' and didn't make many babies, the notion of retirement could very well be stuffed by now.

Some fast food chains over here have resorted to hiring pensioners because there aren't enough students applying for these jobs.

How this would relate to cycling, I haven't got a clue... maybe the majority of MTBikers in the next ten to twenty years would all be over 50!

50, dam u people are old, 20 years im 35, age is a factor of your mind, you can still be kicking it till ur dead, then age has taken it's real toll. But then you got no complaints

I dont know what the age range is in other parts of this county "USA" or around the rest of the globe. But the average MTN bike riders in my part of GA are between 30-65, and it seems the ones who are 45-to 55 are the most insane, and in better shape than most high school kids. I just turned 39 last week.And I can say for a fact, I am in 100% better shape than I was at 30. So i am looking foward to being in the shape some of my ELDER riders are,I can only dream of keepinf up with some of those old farts at this time. There is no dout about it, age is only in the mind!

I'll be eligible for full retirement at age 52. (One of the perks of being a public school teacher.) I have a pretty good pension too as long as it's still solvent in 20 years.

My biggest fear is dropping dead of a heart attack the day after I retire. That's partially why I ride a bike, to prevent such a thing from happening.
