Hydraulic Discs and Fork Mount
Just got a new roof rack with a fork mount. I've been warned on the dangers of activating my Hydraulic Discs with the rotor removed. I'm concerned about inadvertent pressing of the brake lever, either by me or accidentally by others.
How best to combat this? I've heard there are shims that can be placed in the calipers. Are these worth trying? Will they stay in while the bike is on the rack and transporting? If so, where can I acquire these?
Any other alternatives?

can you get some sort of a rubber block or something to place between the lever and grips?

it's not really a big deal. if you happen to pull a lever and get the pads together, they are fairly easy to pry apart. a clean, thin bladed screw driver or something.
if worried, just find something to put between the pads. most companies have specific pad spacers for their brakes, granted if you bought a complete bike it likely didn't come with them. your local shop likely has something they'd toss your way for free to use.
