Worth it?

Hola.Looking into getting an old Trek 950 that's in good condition and was personally ridden/maintained by a mechanic for the last 4 years. Has put on new saddle, v brake rapid shifters/brake levers, and grips. With the new parts, is it worth the $175 asking price? Planning on using it as a commuter bike while I save for something more serious(and modern). Thanks.

Ben

Doesn't seem like a ridiculous price compared to some idiots on craigslist that try to sell there 10 year old bikes for $800 Do you by chance have any pics of the bike or more info, like the year it was made?

Don't really have too much more info on it. I believe the rest of the bike is stock other than the new parts I listed. There is a pic at https://images.craigslist.org/3n93me3...de2fad1895.jpg.

I also saw a 2007 Trek 7300 for $320 that would fit my commuting needs also. Has a little different geometry, front susp(cheap RST I believe) but not sure its worth the dough. Pic at https://images.craigslist.org/3k43o53...46dd23176f.jpg Any opinions?

I would go for the one that fits you best for the ride to work the 950 is a nice riding bike but that is still CL try offering him 100 and barter him down. Good luck!

That's an understatement.

Looking at the photo you posted, that bike appears to be a 1989 model. Yes, twenty years old.

If it was well maintaned, it might be worth the asking price. This is assuming you intend to use it as a commuter only and have no intention of using it off road.
