Thinking of Brake upgrade.

I have Hayes HFX-9 8" in front and 6" in back. I am interested in changing the 6 to an 8. I've looked around and the things only come as sets.

"Kit includes: rotor, caliper, lever, hydraulic line, mounting hardware, bleed kit, and bottle of brake fluid. "

I don't need all that stuff. I just need the rotor and an adapter. Should I ask the LBS?

Order from LBS, it won't take long for the parts to arrive 2-5 days, you will pay a little more though, for that amount of time it is well worth it.

All the major online shops carry the adaptor and rotor you need. You can get both for around $40.

Alright I found a 8" Hayes rotor to replace the existing 6". Now I need to find the correct adapter. And i'm a little confused.

Heres the rotor: http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/129...#39;'-.htm

Now I need to find an adapter. And help? I have a Haro Extreme X3 and I'm looking to replace the rear disc brake. I'm assuming I can use the same caliper so I don't want a package, I want seperate parts. Thanks

You'll need Part 98-15074 for an 8" rear rotor. This can be found here:

http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product.aspx?i=BR708C16 for $13

For more information look here: http://www.hayesdiscbrake.com/MountBracketChart2004.htm

You can keep your same caliper all you have to buy is the 8" rotor and the I.S. adaptor, and you'll be all set.

Where can I obtain a Torque wrench? Or should I bring the parts to the LBS to have them installed?
