It's like the roadie set...not hollow all the way through. Mud goes in...doesn't go out.

The other end is still hollow with pinch bolts on the non-drive.

Whoa there, Shimano!

Ed, that will be for 'Trekking', no?

Are they doing this to MTB cranks? Let's hope not. I don't want my mountain bike to look like DuraAce.

Maybe time to start stocking up on current cranks.

I would wait for the experts to weigh in on this.......

Although, don't think that Shimano hasn't come up with a few stinkers along the way.

LX is back to it's origins, which is trekking. SLX replaced it.

If it's the full on change that I suspect, the piece that screws into the non drive side of the spindle should be solid like the road cranks.

The sad part:
The first picture I've seen of this wasn't in a mag or on Shimano's highly updated website...it was on eBay for (brace yourselves) $199.00

Don't you remember a thread from a number of weeks back about LX being a trekking group now? That's their new trekking crank. They're not gonna change their "mountain" cranks to match.

Yeah...I remember. I just didn't think they were going "roadie" for the trekking stuff. Makes sense though...I guess.
