Ever had your wheel fly off while you were riding?
Yeah, I have. Saturday I was riding at Santos in the rain, when all the sudden the bike fell out from under me. I came smacking down against the limerock, landed hard on my elbow and wrist. Scraped the hell out of my forearm and bruised my ass bad. My derailler and rotor miraculously survived, but my brand new Shimano shoes BROKE. Seriously, how the hell do you break a pair of mountain bike shoes? The ratchet strap shattered at the mount. These things have maybe less than 20 rides on them, and I already need a new pair, after paying like 90+ dollars for them. I have no clue how the rear wheel came out, because last time I checked the quick release was tight. Very strange indeed. So recommend me a pair of new shoes that costs less than 150 bucks so I can ride again.

Maybe the QR was facing forwards when closed and sticking out a little then got snagged on something.

Nope, I always make a point of closing the quick release towards the rear, and making sure that it would be very hard to get it hung on anything. Also, the rotor was loose, and it seems that one bolt had come out of it. I don't suppose the rotor got loose and somehow caused the hub to jack out of the frame under braking?

I'm thinking that's what happened. Several of the bolts on the rotor were very loose.
