I've been told numerous times that the TT length is more important than standover. Even so, I won't ride a bike I can't stand over, and I'm a girl so there's a little less at stake too. There's too much of a chance you'll find yourself involuntarily straddling the top tube at some point in your ride. It also seems like a bad idea because if you're not done growing yet, you don't know what your final proportions will be, and you may find out that you never fit the bike, whether it's because you don't grow tall enough, grow too tall, or end up with a leg/torso ratio that doesn't fit the bike.
