newb, looking for bike
I've been riding the road for a few years now but some of my friends have been mountain biking for a while and i've gone out with them a few times lately (usually borrowing someone elses bike) and I do like riding out there. So i'm planning on getting a mountain bike sometime in the near future but i don't want to spend a lot of money... who does? anyway, i've been checking craigslist and i've found a few possibilities that i firgured i could throw up here and get you alls opinions on. basically i dont want to spend anymore than $150, i know that really limits me but that's about what i have to work, if really get into mountain biking down the road then i'll make a good investment. i'd like to get a bike with front suspension but if i find a good rigid bike for the right price i'll take it, as i should be able to upgrade the fork later along with other components so long as i maintain this interest in riding through spiderwebs and over rocks/roots. so here's what i've found so far in my immediate area:
mongoose
https://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/bik/1381370394.html
specialized hardrock
https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/bik/1375419750.html
anyone know of any particular bikes that might suit my needs without costing me too terribly much?

Well i would defentavelly not get the mongoose.
The hardrock is better because it is good quality (chromoly)
This https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/bik/1381044232.html looks good ( i have an 08 4300 and is good but i will need to upgrade soon because i am really advancing in it but the 4300 is great for non serious or light trails.(thats is a good deal i think)
The one spoke missing i am not sure about that but it should hold up for a while
Good luck

thanks evul9, the item in that link has been deleted but yeah, i figured the mongoose was probably not a good choice.
i found an iron horse quantumII which ive found to be basically a maverick frame but with some other changes, it's commonly sold at sports authority and specs on the bike are hard to find but i did find more info from a youtube user which claims this:
CATEGORY: Trail/XC Hardtail
FRAME: 6061 Aluminum
HANDLEBAR: Alloy Riser
FORK: Rock Shox Dart1 (100mm travel)
CRANK: Tru-Vativ X-Flow
RINGS: 42/32/22T
PEDALS: Wellgo Platform Aluminum Pedals
REAR DERAILER: Shimano Acera
CASSETTE: Shimano HG-30 11/32T, 8SPEED
SHIFTER: Shimano EF-50 EZ-Fire
BRAKES: Hayes MX4 Disc Brakes 160mm Rotor
TIRES: ITS (Intense) Ninja 26" x 2.1"
SADDLE: WTB Speed V Sport
any of that stuff good? i found this bike for a very low price (under $100) and i'm a little leary about it but it looks to be in good condition and if it's a decent bike then it should be a very good deal
