IRC mythos xc-flats?

The Mythos seems to be a tire on sale consistantly, while it looks like it should be a pretty good tire,I am kind of scared to get one.My friend had purchased one several years ago(due to sale price)but it picked up flats constantly, they were from different sources(not the same thorn stuck in the tire), is this coincidence ?Was it the tire or luck(bad).Anybody else rack up a pile of flats with it or no?

I tried the mythos 29er versions on my bike 4ish years ago. At the time, there were only about 6-7 choices for 29er tires, and the tread pattern looked decent so I went with it.

3 flats in one day on a bike trip made me take them off. I think they are still sitting in my basement or I used them for packing cushion on an ebay sale.

Never had a problem like that with any other tire prior or since. Had them set up with tubes and all. YMMV

In the past ten years, I've worn out three sets of the kevlar beaded versions on my geared hardtail -- zero issues.

I raced with them for a full season and never had a flat, good tire for the price.

I use them on two of my bikes...one tube has at least 5 patches, and I just patched two other holes last night.

I'm not really sure how a different tire could have helped prevent the flats, though...I just need to avoid riding near blackberry bushes.

I ran a set for a couple seasons racing XC and did not have any issues with them. They had decent traction for a narrow tire. They do seem to have awefully flexy sidewalls but no moreso than any other kevlar bead tire IMO. It depends on if the majority of the flats were actually punctures or if they were pinch flats; that might help determine whether or not it's a tire problem.

I raced on mine as well for a few races. Like Dminor said, they grip pretty well for a narrow tire. I originally got them because they were designed for the Atlanta Olympics, and I lived in Georgia at the time. The terrain they were built for was what I was riding.

I haven't been dissapointed yet, They are still on the Trek.
