I fell today and have an inner ear injury.

while going down a very steep hill aginst my better judgment, my front brake and rear brake locked up I skidded totally sideways and I knew i was going down so I bailed and fell down the hill and the left side of my head slammed into a tree. i was wearing my helmet. now I have a headache and everytime i turn my head my ear kinda pops. anyone have experience with this? its been 3 hours with nothing is getting better.

Yes if it persists - maybe even if it doesn't - see your Doc.

Okay so you are scared. Your mom says it's fine. You don't believe her. But you won't go. Smart.

Could be a mild concussion. Another vote for seeing the Dr. Especially if you have a headache (even a mild one) tomorrow.

Meet your Dr under the bridge. It.s better that way. OH and don't feel sanctified when the mods come in and say this kid is 12 and not a troll, in the end it's the mods that need a wake up call. Happy halloween Newbie!

Trust your mother, I'm talking to you over a computer and I can tell you are probably fine. If you don't believe me type Glasgow Coma scale into google, and then rate your self (Cause that is what she did). If you get 14 you might have a minor concussion, but I doubt it. As for the inner ear don't fret it's not a serious injury, and the doctor wont be able to do anything, anyway except give you a sucker and say you'll just have to wait it out.
However if you notice symptoms worsen or your headache doesn' t go away after 24hrs go to a doctor.
Until then take a couple aspirin and don't hit your head against anything.
Cabose
Ps worse symptoms include dizziness, or nausea.
PPS Of course she cares shes your mother. She just knows its nothing.

I say you ride your bike to the doctor's office or to the nearest hospital. You're a 15 year old teenager. Since when do 15 year olds listen to what mom says.

Did you get knocked out? If you did, you may have a sub-dural hematoma. You may be bleeding in your head. If it were me, I would go to the ER

ER is a tad over the top I think.
As a mere Lifeguard,
I would recommend follow up treatment and go see a doc.
I know back in the states they have med stops and clinics that teenagers can walk into for help, without parents.

Toughen up, Buttercup. Your a mountain biker. Also, your mom is always right, even when she's wrong she's right. Makes life easier. Were you really going to listen to some yahoos on the web over your mom??? Who happens to be a nurse?

does your mom lock you in the closet for long periods of time when you've been 'bad'

if not, she's probably worth listening to

Brake modulation. Mom raised a 15 year old, can't be too wrong.

Not your first crash, I'm sure, and almost certainly not your last. Glad to hear you're OK-- and really push for that new helmet!
