Specialized Mountain Bike Tires

Which company makes them? They are pricey and I assume that the brand has much to do with the price. I'm looking quality for 26 inch tires for all mountain use without paying for the branding?
Any suggestions on tires and manufacturers?
Thanks in advance,
Uni

For the record, Cheng Shin Tire & Rubber makes Specialized's tire line (as well as Maxxis and quite a few others). Cheng Shin is marketing themselves now as CST; you'll see their ads in the latest issues of MBA (with a very Maxxis-esque orange and black logo ).

Cheng Shin has been around quite a while. When I was in high school, I bought my first Cheng Shin motorcycle tire - - it was an economical copy of the then-very-prized and very expensive European Barum motocross tire.

Thanks Dminor. Do you think the WTB Weir Wolf Race is a better all mountain, all condition tire? Why, or why not?

WTB? What's a WTB?

Seriously, the only one I've had any experience with at all is the Moto Raptor; other than that, I'll take questions about Kendas .

I decided to purchase WTB Weirwolf Race 2.3 (front) & Weirwolf LT Team FR 2.55 (Rear) for my 2000 & 2002 Specialized Enduro.
What do you think ambout this tire combination?
Thanks again,
Uni

I am running Kenda's and Michelin's. I run pavement about 3.5 miles to get to some trails. The Kenda Kross is running up front. I just got a Nevegal in for the back. I had been running a commuter tire in the back (the kids\mechanics at my LBS told me too). It was actually working well. I am getting ready to try a little more speed and don't trust the slick.

Kenda and WTB have been on my bikes for 20 years. But then again, I am just a weekend rider. Nothing technical.
