How wet is too wet?
It's been raining all day non-stop here in Atlanta, and it's not forecast to stop until tomorrow morning. They were predicting 2.5 inches in some areas. How do I know when the trails are OK to ride? How much time should I be giving from when the rain stops?
This really depends on how well built your trails are and maintained. The simple answer is...
If you see puddles, don't ride...the complicated answer is...well to complicated to cover in a post I am willing to throw out there.
Don't really have a bike.
if it's clayish probably take a long time for it to dry if it's not much dirt and shallow rocks in your area wont take more than a nice day or two and it will be alright. Those are the conditions where i live, and there are a few spots that take longer to dry but they can be hopped over.
up here around gainesville/winder it takes about 2-3 days of sun to totally dry out. check out http://gainesvillesorba.org/wordpress/ for chicopee woods/ gsc mtn bike trail, and http://yaba.homestead.com/ for fort yargo. these are the trails i frequent, since theyre all pretty close to me. idk where you ride, but theres probably a website for them if theyre kept up by a club, and will let you know if theyre open or not. as much fun as it is to ride through the mud and much and get filthy, it ultimately screws up the trails
