Got A Free Intense Frame Today, Now with Build Pics
I was given this frame today. Its a prototype Instense Frame from about 10 years ago. It has an M1 main frame, but it has a mount for a front derailer. The rear looks like an Uzzi and the seat stay looks like the newer bikes.
Anyway, I REALLY, REALLY, want to build this bike up, but the rear shock has a cracked piston. I called Fox and Intense, but there are no parts for it. The shock is a 7 inch Fox Alps 4. Does anyone have one for sale? Or is there something else that I may be able to get to fit?

If you really want to build it up and ride it, consider taking some machine shop courses or becoming really good friends with a talented machinist.

Its 7 inches eye to eye. The shock isnt anything special. I had it out today and it has the same body as another fox shock I have, they just cut one of the eyelets off. You can see where it used to be. The problem is that these shocks are getting harder to find.

Ya, thats what I am trying to do. I was asking if anyone here has an old one they want to sell. Preferably a fox alps 4. But really anything that is 7 inches eye to eye with a 1 3/4 body.

Dang! I have a 6½X1½ Alps 5.
When you say 7" eye-to-eye, are you meaning 7" from eye center to the stubbed-off end or eye-center to where the eye would have been before it was removed?
BTW, that's still a great freebie, old or not. We should be able to find you something that will work.
Periodically check the Santa Cruz store clearance section (https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/cat...jhnkqv9v2ukop1). They occasionally blow out overstock shocks from past frames cheap.

Add trunion-mount shocks to your search. They showed up on some GTs and others. The trunion was on the shock body (so one end already did not have an eye) and was sometimes, I believe, a separate, removeable item.

That Proflex is pretty SWEET! I found a shock from Risse racing. I am going to build the Intense up with as many era correct parts as possible. With the exception of the fork. I found some first generation XTR rapid fire shifters/brake levers, but I am not sure how expensive they are.

Oh good. I was going to suggest Risse but didn't find one for that application in my cursory look on their site yesterday. Keep us posted as the project progresses.

I ordered the rear shock today. Should be here in about 10 days. I also found an older XT ft derailer for $20. I also decided that I am going to build it up with some red anodized parts. I know of a set of red race face cranks, but I am not sure if they are for sale.
I am still undecided on the forks. I would love to find a mid 90s set of 100mm travel forks, but there werent that many then. The other option is a Rockshox Tora, but I am trying to stick to era correct parts.

I got the original wheels for the bike today. XT hubs, Mavic 121 SUP rims, with red and gold spoke nipples. Not sure the spoke gauge, but the wheels feel pretty light.

Be cool if you could find a RockShox DHO in good enough condition. I'm liking how this project is shaping up.

You could just get anything with the travel you're looking for and remove the decals.
Props for taking on the project, looks like it will be sweet. I miss my old mid '90s full suspension rig pretty dearly.

Well, its starting to look more like a bike. Here are the pics with the fork and wheels. I left the steer tube a little long until I figure out where I want the bars.
