alfine 8spd hub

I read this morning in a review of shimano's Alfine 8spd hub that riders are using them for mountain biking, does any one have any personal experience w/ this hub actually mountain biking with it. I am very interested in using it on my current single speed bike but am a little cautious about using a hub that was designed for more of a road / commuting application on my mountain bike.

I've been running one for two seasons, I love it. Works great esp if you're coming from a single speed perspective.
