Gobble gobble! I'm heading out for a few hour ride now to justify my appetite, now that the Cowboys look to be in proper control of the Raiders. Besides, the smell of the roast is driving me nuts, will be just about ready on my return...yum!

It wasn't bad...few sloppy spots, but over all pretty rideable. I didn't get to the West side though. Dang, I thought I was outta shape....that was rediculous.

I joined Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze, Scot Nicol, Jacquie Phelan, Otis Guy, Steve "Gravy" Gravenites, and another thousand or so mountain bikers who aren't in the MTB Hall of Fame on the oldest annual mountain bike event in the world, the Appetite Seminar. This was the thirtieth anniversary of the most epic of these events, documented here. I'm the ride leader in that second article, but around 1983 the ride went leaderless because I didn't want hundreds of people I didn't know following me while I'm trying to party in the woods with my friends.

I can't think of any other event in which a thousand people take part, sponsors show up uninvited, there is no organization, no leader, and no plan. Everyone just shows up in the same town on the same day and takes a ride on the same gnarly, tough course. The coffee house puts out free pastry and coffee before the ride, the local brewery puts up a few kegs, which are gone before noon, and along the way Clif gives out snacks at the top of the last climb. Josh from the bike shop drags a camp stove and supplies up the mountan, and you can buy whiskey-laced coffee, or he will make you pancakes.

Here, have a look at the profile. I dare anyone to laugh on the last climb.
