How'd I do?
I've been back into road biking for almost 4 years now and I wanted to get back into mountain biking as well, but on the cheap. A road riding buddy sold me his '07 Ironhorse Maverick 5.0 for $100. It's a tad big for me (that seatpost had to come down a good 6") but it will do, and I gotta put flat bars and bar ends on it... is it just us roadies that have a dependency on parallel handles for climbing?

for a 100.00 I'd say you're doing well
|
nice score urb. I still ride road most times and still hang out over there too.
|
Ya did good for one Benjamin.
|
You'll get a lot of riding in for a hundred bucks.
|
Agreed with the others - good score for $100.
As a roadie-turned-mtber myself, I don't use bar ends, but that's to (help) keep me out of trees.I need all the help I can get. |
I need friends like that. For a hundred, that'll get you moving! Good score. Have fun playing in the dirt.

Thanks everyone! Can't wait to get riding it... have to wait until Dec 25th, though.
Keeping you out of trees? Come to So Cal, we really don't have trees in the semi-arid and desert areas. Just tall, dead grass. Good luck finding shade, though. http://dougweyek.com/gallery/cache/c...68.jpg_595.jpg |

True, but when a 100 oz camelback runs out on a 4 hour ride and you have sunburns because it's hard to apply sunscrean over sweat and dirt, you realize that there is a trade off.

Not quite. It's Cheseboro Canyon in Agoura, about 100 miles west of Fontucky.
