aw yea!

mtnbiker66 11-29-09 03:34 PM

Your photo skills are amazizing.

mzeffex 11-29-09 03:54 PM

I'm still so jealous of that bike.

ed 11-29-09 05:20 PM

Because it gets to be ridden by me? :D

I may pony up for new shifters in the not so distant future.

They're 2005 LX
-Came on a 2005 HKEK
-moved to a 2006 HKEK
-2005 XLT
-2004 Komodo
-'Nuther '04 Komodo
-2005 Komodo

I think that's it. Since I got serious about riding trails instead of urban back in '05...these are the only component that I've not needed to upgrade. From the sounds of the latest XT release (and the performance of my '08 Deore's)...I think it's time to change that. I really like the dual release triggers, and the increased smoothness of contemporary design.

calleymn 11-29-09 06:26 PM

that bike looks amazing

If they were amazing, the depth of field would be greater on the knobby shots ;).

Pay attention folks. That LX stuff is tough. Ed blows up whole bikes but the shifters stay intact :D.

ed 11-29-09 09:26 PM

I'm a low aperture junkie, man.

plasticmaam12 11-29-09 10:25 PM

Cool. I like the last fishbowl photo.
What front hub do you have? Does it use straight-pull spokes from the hub?
Just curious. I mainly think the color is bad-ass, kind of an orangish red.

ed 11-29-09 10:31 PM

Hope Pro II.
Uses Std. pull spokes.
It's pretty-much Chris King red...only not "quite" as deep, and has surface dust on it making it appear lighter than it would be had I washed it.

craigcraigcraig 11-29-09 11:46 PM

looking good!

dminor 11-30-09 12:56 AM

Looks flexy.

calleymn 11-30-09 07:26 PM

is that the pike 454 u-turn with the 90-140mm travel? if so how do you like it. and is it the air or coil version? cause im currently looking to possible buy one of those

cryptid01 11-30-09 07:35 PM

Funny you mention that...I was just thinking that I'ie really gone overboard w/ pic's lately:lol: I have issues. It's prob b/c SmashMan and I have a similar issue with always changing crap and wanting to show the world.:D

Actually dude, it's a 351. Licensed to Specialized and OEM on a Pitch PRO. from what I've gathered, it's like a 454 minus external floodgate?? ALu steerer, alu tubed, Motion Control, coil U-turn.

I'm lovin the coil. It's smoother than my Fox Float and Vanilla were. The Float was definitely too progressive...I never tapped the last 1" of travel when I sagged it proper. The Vanilla was nice, but the PIKE is smoother, the TA is a bonus, and the U-turn "may" come in handy. (though I will most likely leave it @ 140)

How does u turn work? If I'm looking into one, and I put it at 90 mm travel, it will have 90 mm of visible stanchion or 140 mm, and just use 90 of it?

ed 11-30-09 11:10 PM

Crank down the u-turn and the front end lowers.

Us: "OK, I can't see it. What's different?"

Dan: "Changed out my valve stem caps. Oh, and put on different color zip-ties."

:D

I never went THAT far, but I am tempted now just for the heck of it.

:D

ed 12-01-09 12:11 AM

I could just take a pic of the tree w/o the bike...that'd be a nice new addtn to my "personal blog".

craigcraigcraig 12-01-09 12:39 AM

what you need is a shot through the spokes of the crapper of the newly newer komodo.

dminor 12-01-09 08:09 AM

Needs Spokey-Dokes.

mzeffex 12-01-09 08:31 AM

Good! I'll look into getting one - need something better than the manitou.

meatpants 12-01-09 02:31 PM
