Training

Wanting to do some small short track races here in Louisville, and have not ridden in a while or ever
in a race and was just courious what sort of training would you all suggest. Just seat time, because
there are some nice trails around town? Thanks for the advice!

do you know the duration of the short track

usually it is either X laps or something like 45 mins + one lap

Short track races are usually pretty spirited ie your holding a quick pace for the duration of the race

if you have some miles for a base fitness I'd find your LTHR ... there is a sticky at the top of the training forum on how to do it

or you can do Joe Friel's Method

https://www.trainingbible.com/joesblo...ing-zones.html

here are some interval drills

Since it's really just a gravel crit, I would think a lot of road training would be appropriate.

Don't be a geek about it, I guess. Just have fun riding your bike. Challenge yourself while you ride. Keep it interesting. The more fun you have, the longer you will "want" to stay on the trail...big lungs and strong legs will just be a by-product.

Kentucky. I figured that seat time and some intense indoor training was the key. I'll read the links soon. Is a early model "descent" Schwinn an OK bike to start with? Descent meaning before Scott bought them and they were sold at Target!?

Training is for suckers. Just puff on a joint 15 minutes before the race and go at it.

Your bike won;t hold you back

I've been to races where marathon runners showed up on wal-mart bikes and put the hurt on guys riding expensive rigs

it's our bodies that hold us back

This year is the hardest that I've trained, different type of cycling though.

When it was on the mtb, a productive trail ride would suffice.
