Which one? They come in several different types Dakar XLT 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 - Dakar Sport, Dakar XC Pro, XC Expert, XC Comp, and just the plain Dakar.
I bought an '03 Dakar XLT 1.0 for my wife and its a nice bike. She loves it just hates the color. The component spec on it is hard to beat for the price point. I handles really well and she does light downhill on it.

I have a jamis dakar 1.0 2004. I like it, like blackdiamond said the you cant beat the price for the compontes it comes with. The bike realy does make up for my lack of experience and gets me some hairy situations. just hold on and keep pedeling and the bike will take you through some rough trails.

I have the '04 Dakar XC Expert. I LOVE the bike! I test rode a few Marins and a Santa Cruz before I bought it. I think it rides better than both of the others and it was about $300 (US) cheaper, too. I say go for it!
