Getting your jaw torn off gets old quick.

I'd love to see video of this. Did he just have his front wheel steered wrong, or did it catch on that piece of what looks to be gritty roofing material?

Clumsy? You've obviously never worn one. In under 5 minutes, you don't notice it's there . . . until you need it. And that's why we wear them: for instances like above.

Good find, Ben .

In the archives of the MTB thread is a thread I started singing the praises of helmets. Remember my favorite line/memory, After my head bounced off the second rock I remember thinking, this is a great helmet. BIG FAN HERE, sarcasm dudes! I got a Bell in the garage that looks like someone tried to open it with a church key.

Ahhh, sarcasm. With the use of the "clumsy" descriptor, I thought you were specifically questioning the sensibility of full face helmets.

Try a sarcasm smiley next time.

Sorry guys . . . I just got done processing invoices. My brain was only half in gear and my sarcasm detector was obviously in neutral. I would go back and delete all the evidence but my stupidity should stay in the public record. Good play on words, Daspydyr, even if it escaped me

I will shut up now.

Whoa - D - seems like your sensitivity meter is pegged - Nothing better to reset that than another day of winter DH'ing. (as long as you don't pull what that guy in the pic is doing).

I was just embarrassed . . . I hate getting caught being dumb.

I'm still in a state of perplexation-ism-ocity'edness...as to how this happened. (studying the terrain) I guess just a quick lapse in judgement at the uttermost wrong time?

Dang roadies go out and buy a dually and a full face and think they can shred.

Comes from not running "the most advanced, toughest wheelset's [sic] available" .

You better believe it.

There was a multi-frame sequence of this accident on pinkbike.

Studying the other frames, I gained even less understanding of the physics of this mishap.

I bet he caught a little air off those rocks.. landed with the front wheel slightly turned to make the turn.. then that wimpy, 900g, 2.35" tire grabbed the roofing, and the sidewall folded.. then his delicate little "trail/freeride" rim hit and it folded like a soft taco. Looks like the rotor is about to become a chalupa as well. The weight and high center of gravity of that ridiculous helmet didn't help either.

gotta be something like that. a thin layer of dust on the rock let the front wheel slide 'til he hit the grip of the tarpaper and....

I'd love to see the sequence.

Dude crossed up on a table-top where there wasn't enough air. At least he had the balls to do it. Nowadays I guess you just jump into ping-pong ball pits or water or whatever.
