I hated my Magura Marta SL's. They never have to be bled. Yea right. I had to bleed mine fairly regularly. And it is a pain. Maybe you should also look at the Formula Oro's. They are what I decided against when I got the SL's. I have no experience with Formula's but I know I regretted the SL's.
(Sorry to be such a hater, but I was frustrated with them for 3 years).

it's okay, you get mixed reviews with everything. I have the Oro puros on one of my bikes. I was looking to diversify. I have Hope mono mini/m4...they have been great too.

I never had upper end avid. I have had Juicy 5's. They were great performance wise but I had what I guess was the plunger seal go on one...and it was close to new so not sure why that happened. I still have them never had a chance to investigate.

But there is a "yes" in every Hayes.

[Hey, I think I just made up a marketing slogan]

Don't know if you'd consider it 'on par with' the others but I think I would: Stroker Gram. Carbon lever, lightened version of the Stroker master cylinder, ti harware on the caliper, 355 grams in 160mm version.

355 grams !! why don't I just duct tape ankle weights on my bars while I am at it!
