MOTOBECANE 500HT&700HT

hey,
I am trying to get my first mountain bike and was wondering how Motobecane stacks up with the big major companies. if they are good, please look at the specs on the 04' 500 HT and 04'700HT and tell me the pros and cons of them. thanks, spencer

On parts they are pretty good, but in that range, there are much better forks out there than the Judy TT.

on ebay the 500HT is $347 msrp $695, and 700HT is $447 on ebay msrp 1095. they are both brand new. I dont know I heard some other forums downing motobecane. other bikes i was looking at were giant rainier, trek 6700, and specialized rockhopper comp. if i got those i was going to get when 04' were old, or off ebay. any other suggestions. spending around of course $500. thanks

I'd either get a Rainier or a Rockhopper Comp.
