Errr.. well, what bike do you have now?

That really shapes the answer.

@ 349.99 new, $50 don't seem much. I don't like much about the components or the bike though myself.... The RST fork only has 2" of travel too.

i have a hardrock sport ( specialized) and i want the trek as my back-up bike. it does NOT have an RST fork, but an "insync" which is alittle better. he bought it new for like 300-350. i'm guna look at it again before i buy.I dunno, it might be a 2003 model? all i know is that its either a 2002 or 2003 model. i really think since we are best friends, that i am getting a deal, but i'll leave it up to you guys....

$50 is worth it.

Heck, for that little money, I strip the shifters and derailleurs off of it, turn it into a SS and ride the heck out of it. I'd even, swap the crap fork for a rigid (probably $30 from a shop) and go full retro, SS Rigid (maybe we should have a new designation SSR).

I'd go for it, regardless of the condition.
