wrist and palm pain riding the stump jumper

it seems that i experience a lot of wrist and palm pain after 5 miles or so riding. i feel myself leaning in the handle bars to mush with pressure. my seat height is adjusted so that my leg is extended on the 6 O'Clock position but i feel that i have to lean to much to reach the handle bars. what can i do? i changed my grips to the
ergon GP1 Grips and still have problems.

i am 5'11'' ride a large stump jumper

Maybe try to bring your hands up and/or back towards you by using more spacers under your stem, maybe a shorter stem, a stem with more rise or maybe bars with more rise or sweep (or maybe just try rotating your bars to achieve different rise/sweep). Could even try tilting your saddle up a bit. What have you tried other than grips?

Try moving your seat backward. This will move more of your body weight over the seat and take the pressure off of your wrists. Yes, it's counter intuitive because you think you want to sit more upright, but it works.

Focus on your core - when you are riding, the weight on your hands should not be supporting more than 5-10% of you - your stomach and lower back should keep that load supported transferring the weight to your seat and feet. Make sure your arms are never locked and that you always have a fairly light touch/pressure on the bars.

Easton EA70 HiRise bar dude. I learned 6 years ago that a HiRise bar is crucial for me to have a good time riding. I've still got the one that I purchased 6yrs ago for $25 and it's still running strong on the '98. It really gets more action than my new one.

Make sure your saddle tip isn't angled down too much.
Make sure your handlebars are angled correctly also.
Make sure the ergon grips are angled correctly, they will cause more problems if they aren't.
Get a nice pair of padded gloves.
