Fox Float Fork Seal Maintenance
 

The front fork gets wet on one stanchion side (rubber boot gets shiny, but no dripping) after riding.
Clearly, one side is leaky. Not bad but I don't want to destroy my shocks from lack of fluid.

Fox seems to recommend changing these innerseals/foam rings/wipers every 50-100 hours so it's probably due time @ 100-200 hours.

(I only used this youtube one as a reference reference, they did it in more of a cavalier way, skipped a few things but it helped to understand the process)

You don't have "front shocks" you have a front fork. If you refer to your bike as "ma baby" then you have some issues. Would you toss your "baby" down a pile of rocks.

Get some blue enduro seals for your fork and you'll have no more leaking problems.

So many issues. I toss ma baby around as much as I toss my other 2 babies around on my bike seat. So it's all good.
But really, it is my baby, I want to take care of it.

This is what I have found so far
Seems like 2 'wipers' and 2 washers.
Assuming that's all that is needed, some lube would be next to replace. :chin:

I say the same thing with cars though. Front shocks, even though it's technically 'struts.' I live on the edge like that!

Cool, so I have learned that fox has a good website for info on fixing their shocks (forks! forks!)

Which tells me how much oil I should use.
160ml and 30ml of Fox Weight 7 oil (Damper and Spring side, respectively)
And 5mL for the Air Chamber of Fox Fluid

Aside from that it seems according to Fox and the symptoms I told them, I need a wiper/washer oil seal kit
So I'll try and get one of those for the 32mm stanchion arm Fox Float RL 130mm that I have
Ive probably put 200 hours on the bike, they said 50-100 hours is the time for new seals.

Now if I could only refrain from calling a fork a shock!
I'm sure you'll be seeing my blather once the fork gets taken apart.
Hopefully I can order up the parts today. The weather is unbelievable!

The Fox service website you listed has good info on changing the oil and seal replacement in your fork as well as air sleeve maintenance and seal replacement for the rear shock. I did both recently and it was pretty easy. I recommend getting the Fox seal kits which include all the required parts and some Fox Fluid.

By the way, a very thin coat of oil on the stanchion does not mean the fork is leaking; it means it is working properly. If it is dry it needs service.

Yeah, judging on what I've seen the last 2 years, one side is leaking. The wiper gets wet and there's a thicker than usual ring of oil on the stanchion.
The other side is similar to what Ive seen for a couple years and the wiper doesn't get wet.

I guess I don't need any air sleeve maintenance parts unless my air is leaking, or if I want to *really* rebuild the fork which shouldnt be necessary at this stage.

Thanks, ordered most everything from Enduro....going to get the fork oil @ the local motorcycle/atv store, because from what I've read the Fox Fork Oil is way overpriced compared to motorcycle fork oil. Not sure what you guys think about that.

Smart people buy fork oil from M/C shops for the reason you mention.

Ok, got it all done, wasn't too bad aside from losing a ball bearing in the lockout switch from dropping it
And knicking up one of those 26mm'ers holding the dampening rod, damn those are soft.

What fluid did you end up getting? There's a good bit of information on suspension fluid here http://pvdwiki.com/index.php?title=Suspension_Fluid. I recently went the moto shop route and got some Silkolene based on the info in that article, but still had to order it as they didn't stock what I wanted (went with the Pro RSF in 5 and 7.5 wt). Definitely less expensive than the Fox fluids, although I could have just purchased the Fox stuff at a nearby LBS on the first try. Just installed the enduro seal kit on my 32VanR and using the Silkolene fluids...out for the test run in a bit.
