2010 goals

So, anyone setting any goals for the year?

I don't ride with a computer or anything, so i can't say i want to climb X number of miles. BUT, i am trying to get100+ days of singletrack/trail riding this year. So far, i have two under my belt. That is my main goal. A secondary goal i have set for myself is to huck it more often.

Feel free to share your goals and ambitions for the year here.

Just huck it.

My main goal is to get strong enough on my single speed to not embarrass myself on a buddies trip we're making to St George, UT this year.

Oh, and to buy less stuff. That one's not going so well.

The Anthem drop on Tempest, at Diablo. I'm not a big hucker - that's about the largest I'll likely ever hit up, and it bugs me that I didn't get to it last season.

Ride lots. Have fun doing so. Old and new places. Have a few mini-trip ideas for this spring/summer/fall. Not give myself any season ending injuries.

When trails are wet/crappy, make myself get out on the road bike to get some miles in. It will only improve my fitness. But damn, I'd so much rather be on dirt. It's sooooooo easy to just sit and read a book or surf instead of heading out on the road.

That's about it.

Ride more gravity with friends for fun; not just riding to practice for races.

Get to Whistler at least once.

Qualify for the Nat Champs at Sol Vista . . . and actually go this time.

I want to climb the Mt Wilson Toll Rd before my wife reaches her 3rd trimester. The rest of my goals will probably be family related.

Considering last year was chomped away by injury and surgery, this year will be getting back into shape, not getting injured, and doing bb/hubs/geartrain maintenance on my own. Ill be content with that!

Midnight Century in under 5h30m wall time on the hardtail. Last year I managed 6:20 despite some problems (like going an extra 7 miles by missing a turn at ~3:30AM), and they've paved the Fish Lake trail now, so it might be possible. Got to put in some longer training rides, though.

I also want to do all the Wednesday-night XC races at Riverside State Park this year, if they hold them (word on their Facebook page is that they might not ). I did four of the six last year, and they were mad fun.

Not sure if I'll bother defending my state Masters road-racing title for this year. I'd like to come at that goal with a proper training base over a winter, which I certainly didn't accomplish this year. Maybe for 2011.

Oh, and I want to knock out some good lap times for my team in the 24-hour race.

I'm thinking about it as well - I was in middle of a roof project last year that kept me from riding. Maybe if you had a little drafting exchange you may be able to do that ride in sub 5. (hint hint)

I try to do 1 endurance event a year - started in 2002
2002 - Midsumer nightmare (double century) on a SS
2003 - Cascade creampuff 100 mile offroad race
2004 - several 50 to 100 mile backcountry rides
2005 - CDA Ironman
2006 - 1500 offroad miles on a xr400 in Baja mexico
2007 - CDA ironman, Tour of Pain (double century) 1600 offroad miles on a xr400 in Baja mexico
2008 - Cascade creampuff 100 mile offroad race
2009 - Cascade creampuff 100 mile offroad race
2010 - have not signed up for anything yet - I want to try some endurance running, there is a 33 mile run to the top of the local moutain - Probably do the midnight century (road and gravel), but my 15 yo son won't give me a break from downhilling - and for sure ride the 7 summits trail again.

Well, being a new cat to the "serious" cycling scene, I have the goals of:

1. Getting in more miles than last year... Which is pretty easy, seeing this is my first year.
2. Commute to school on a regular basis.
3. Get together some friends to ride.
4. Get in peak physical shape for when I go off to college.

Find a job.
Start riding with groups again. I have done a few road rides with Rocket Velo.
Increase my endurance and work on climbing.
Start racing road/off road again after taking a 10 year hiatus, after I get a job.
