31.8-->25.4 shim?

Anyone have any experience with these 31.8 to 25.4 handlebar shims? I have a few road stems I can use but my mtb bar is 25.4. Any real world experience? Good? Bad?
thanks

I used a shim for 4 months or so before getting a new stem and I can't tell a difference except that it looks cleaner without shims....
