I got XT shifters fur'ma burpday!
My wife and kids felt sorry for me, I guess. My old LX shifters have been the only component that I've carried over from build-to-build since 2005.
I'm pretty astounded at these suckers!
(OE 2009's)
They have a reach adjust on the mount (pictured), but the kewlest part is that they came with a cap that is snapped into the underbelly of the shift indicators. (pictured) If you want to remove the indicators, just un-snap the cap and use it to cover the holes where the shift indicators were. FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! Now I can run my levers one-finger and still reach my shifters w/o changing grip!
(oh yeah...forgot...and they shift like a moh-foh-yo!)

After a few roydes on em...I will confirm that I am a changed man. When I walk into a room now...people always stare at me in awe. I am a respected member of the community. Women adore me and men want to be me...all b/c of my new shidders. They are so light that I have to use my Uber-hydro's to keep my climbing speed in check or I get a nose bleed. They are so tough...I pulled my bike down off the rack at the trailhead...they took one look at that bully and he just freakin' died right there in front of me.
Running them with the XT Shadow RD. I'm really liking the dual release...I have dual release on the Deore's installed on the crapper, but this just confirms the added convenience. It seems more often than not, I'm shifting all thumbs with them. Smooth, yet snappy/positive engagement. When I first started using them, I would accidentally shift too many gears b/c the thumb lever is so much smoother than my old one. The added convenience of the shift indicator removal so I can run my brake levers inside is RAWK! Now I can "one-finger" my brakes w/o changing grip to reach both levers on the shidders.
I'm happy and recommend them to anyone.
