New Bike Servicing
Hey, I recently bought a Dawes Watoga about 2 weeks ago and its been running great since I bought it until it started making a slight squeaking noise the other night riding. Didn't seem to be in the wheels or a brake pad rubbing and it kinda faded away and came back again. Could it be the bottom bracket? I wouldn't think that would need any kind of look at this soon. Or is it just new parts wearing in that need a relube soon after there new? No doubt it'll disapear again today but its just when its been running so quiet any little noise is like

Actually, I just bought a bike (complete) not too long ago, and I got my first tune up about 2-3 weeks into it, and my second one about the same amount of time afterward. I don't think that is early at all, especially depending on your weight and riding. If you are heavy, then you definitly need a tune up allready to help the parts settle in and get working... if you are like me, really light and really hard on my bike, then you should also consider getting some parts adjusted. It is normal so don't blame it on the bike

No unusal. You will need to have all the cables readjusted as there is an initial "Set-in" period. The cables are twisted banded wires. After a few weeks of use, the cables "Stretch" meaning they get pulled tighter affectively elongating their length.
Also, the chain lube could be crap! A lot of manufacturers will coat the chain with a non-viscous coating to avoid rusting during shipping. This is NOT a good lube. A decent shop will wipe this stuff off and apply a good quality lube.

Yeah, I'll hand it into the bike shop to do it this first time. I've already relubed the chain, there didn't seem to be much in the way of lube on it atol just a sort of thin sticky clear stuff. Thanks anyway.
