Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo Old school

Just got my hands on a (mid 90's?) GF HKEK!

I've been googling for info, but haven't found conclusive answers to a couple of questions. It seems that they were made with suspension forks, however, the one I have has it's original fork, and it's rigid. The frame and fork are cro-moly. It has Suntour gearing, and is marked as 'made in Taiwan, designed by Gary Fisher'. Anyone else have this bike?

Sure seems like it's taken a beating, but still feels absolutely solid, and rides well.

I'd really like to replace the quill/stem, but I'm not sure what the quill size is. Anyone know? Definitely on the larger side.
I'll be bringing it to my LBS in a few days, but thought I maybe BF would know.

The seat post also seems large to me. Anyone know what size that is?

Lastly, is there a way to know it's age by a serial number? (haven't found it yet)

Sorry I don't have a picture yet, I'll post one tonight.

Thanks

Don't know about HKEKs, but I have a 2001 Wahoo that's listed as having come with a suspension fork, but it has an original rigid. Gary Fisher seemed to have ADD with his logo designs & changed them often, so it's generally not hard to date a GF if you can find references from people with the same style logo. Here's mine below. That style logo was used from 1999-2003 as far as I can tell. If yours has the same style logo, it's likely a 2001 as mine is the same deal with the fork (listed as suspension, but came with rigid). http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...g?t=1278439604

Enjoy it, I love mine. I'm in dire need of an upgrade as the lack of suspension is killing my steamroller-style trail riding, but I doubt I'll ever sell this bike. Probably turn it into a commuter-style with a carbon fork & slicks, just as soon as I can get the money for a FS.

I have an old school GF HKEK. IT came with a RS Judy fork. My model (I beleive is from 96-7) is a steel (853) hardtail and I believe it was made in the USA. I use it mainly to ferry my 21 month old around now.

1993 or earlier. It's probably one of the Anlun built frames. Headset and stem size is 1 1/4".
