blur VS racer x 100

so i've been riding my racer x 100 for about 3 months and feel i've ridden it enough to make and educated product report. since this bike was purchased to replace my santa cruz blur it had some big shoes to fill because the blur is a great performing bike, and it didn't disapoint. PEDALING the titus pedals extremely well and accelerates quick with very little bob (could be due to the swinger 3 way on back) on slow technical climbs it has no pedal feed back when encountering an object unlike my blur. the blur does hook up better on the loose stuff due to a more active rear suspension i could really feel the blur follow the contours on terrain better. but overall pedaling efficiency had to go to the titus, it pedals smooth, very easy to maintain a fast pace and accelerates great ( could be because it is slightly lighter ). DESCENDING the titus descends very well it is very stiff laterally i personally could feel a slight difference laterally when ripping tight ruff turns. the titus has a definate advantage in tight twisty single track, it felt close to my old hardtail in the corners very solid, fast and no flex. but there is no way i can say this bike goes down better then the blur. with around an inch of extra travel the blur really does descend great and eats the ruff stuff up. the rear suspension of the titus feels like it just takes the edge off as opposed to the blur which soaks it up. climbing, i touched on the climbing when taking about pedaling but i'd have to say the titus has the edge for 3 reasons #1 the titus has a longer top tube and better balance which i feel really helps keeping the rubber down on the steep grades #2 the use of a stable platform shock really eliminated pedal induced bob ( take note my blur was equiped with a fox ava not a 5th element ) #3 no pedal feed back when spinning and encountering an object (problem noted from many blur owners like myself) but once again when climbing the ruff stuff the blur's active suspension will take you to the top faster with less wasted wheel slip. FINISH i must say the welds on the titus are nothing short of beautiful, very clean, neat dimes. the blur's welds were clean but not on par with the titius. both the blur and titus are ano black, the blurs anodized finish is much nicer than the titus IMO. i rode my blur hard for 2 years and sold it looking brand new, i mean the finish held up to everything i could throw at it. now the titus's ano finish scratched after the second ride by a tree branch no less i probably should have avoided it but i was way out of control. FINAL SAY i'd say both bikes are fantastic machines and you could not go wrong with either but i have to say i miss my blur, the fun of descending in comfort is really a confidence builder and i have had alot of good times on that bike BUT i'm really impressed with my titus, it is an overall great ride in all catagories. if i had to choose between the 2 i'd have to go with my steel hardtail J/K

Nice Review!

I considered a Titus, but settled on my Intense.

great review I am going from a Motobecane Fly Team obviously hardtail, to the Titus and it is being built up as I write this, I know I am going from night to day but one thing I am excited to hear is that it is very comparable to a hardtail in many conditions. I just need a good bike to race and take some of that edge off as the 12th hour gets closer...

Thanks for your review I will post mine soon.

Why makes you think that the OP is still monitoring his post four years later?
