Do I need a new chain?
I have ordered a Motobecane Team Fly Ti hardtail which I noticed has a small rear cassette....specifically a Shimano CS-6500 cassette 9 speed 12-27T.
I am ordering a replacement 11-34T Shimano CS-M770 Deore XT Cassette. I could not see the justification in paying the huge price for the XTR cassette. let me know if this cassette will not work for any reasons that I am not aware of.
Will the existing chain work with the new larger rear cassette or do I need to buy a larger chain?
Would a Shimano XTR/7701 9 Speed Chain work better for me or is KMC super narrow X9 speed (on the bike now) basically the same size?

Yep, install it and put it in the largest chainring and a middle cog. Then shift up one cog at a time while watching the rear derailleur to make sure it doesn't overextend itself by the time you get to the largest cog. If not, you're fine. If so, you can either be very good about not cross chaining, or get a longer chain and be safe.

I really appreciate the responses. I am new to BF and am thankful for all of the great advice. I have seen where a few guys have posted purchasing the FLY TEAM TI bike and have gone to a 32 or 34T cog....I was hoping one of them would chime in as to whether they left their chain on or put on a new longer one. I will play with it and be good about avoiding chain stretch. Again...thank you.
