Disc brake question

Is it a bad idea to buy new 2008 or 2009 hydraulic disc brakes that are pre bled? will the seals be ok or does the fluid ruin them?

Why do you think a bled system will damage the seals? If they have been sitting on a shelf for 2 years they might need to be bled again.

If you're buying good brakes you shouldn't have an issue. If you're buying something cheap, you might have some problems.

I just put on a set of AVID BB7s replacing Hayes Sole hydros, granted the Hayes were junk but after 2 rides with the BB7s I'm wondering why anyone would need hydros, they're simple. light and effective and reasonably priced, looks like a no brainer to me.

N+1 braking power? Hydros are less likely to give you arm pump and a bit smoother than mechanicals.

You answered your own question. Ride a good set of hydros then reconsider your question.
