I wear sunglasses for light but not for protection. I voted no because I normally ride in the forest. If I know I'm riding trails that are more open or exposed, I'll ride with them. I've got a nice pair of Giro Splitters with polarized brown lenses that fit great with my helmet.

I wear shades when I ride, but I take them off and hang them in my collar when I get into the woods where I need better visibility.

I almost always wear eye protection while biking. Especially on the trails. I'll wear amber colored lenses on most conditions. I'll wear my black-mirrored lenses that I normally wear on the road if I'm going to be biking in a lot of open area or if there are just a few clouds. Clear lenses are for when its cloudy or in the evening.

Personally, I use sunglasses I got at wal mart for 5 bucks. They're plastic frame sports glasses with a slight tint to them, but nothing too dark. They're great because they feel rather form fitting to my face, so I don't have wide gaps under my eyes where mud can fly up, however I have enough of an opening for air to flow through.

While I tend to be pretty hardcore into biking, I've never gotten too heavily in certain gear, such as bike specific goggles or bike specific shoes. These 5 dollar glasses do the trick for me, at least.
