Does anyone else use these?

Unfortunately i dont have a pic of them but today i was talking to a friend who is mainly in to road cycling. They recommended i take buy some of these energy 'drinks' (cant think of a better name) They are small 10ml vials of a ginseng extract which give about the same affect as a red bull or similar energy drink but contain no sugar so there is no low afterwards. Straight after work i went and bought a few to try and they really work, also alot cheaper than enery drinks/bars. I was lucky that my local health food store had them but not sure how well known they are.

Edit: Found a site with them, not exactly the same as the ones i bought but similar.

Does anyone else take stuff like this with them on rides for energy boosts?

I don't trust herbal remedies. Many argue that, "hey they're natural!" but so is cocaine.

ginseng's been around for ages. it's pretty good stuff. doesn't taste too bad either. me and a bunch of my old friends used to drink that stuff every now and then... they swore that it'd make them last longer in bed... not that i'd know anything about that, heh.

i haven't used it in quite some time though, let alone using it for riding. but i can say that it does give you a pretty good energy boost and i've been thinking of trying some for those days that i'm riding but don't seem to have anything in me.

no, it doesn't. ginseng is an herbal root extract. i'm sure you can find more than enough on it if you run a google search.

My friend is national champion wrestler and he uses ginseng before matches. He says its a real energy boost but he doesnt cramp up or anything cause you dont need much of it.

In 1989 I was cocaine and Jim Beam now its 95 and I'm ginseng...

-311/Misdirected Hostility

On that note, from what I've read they still don't know much about ginseng, whats in it, what effects it causes, etc. I'm a little wary of doing any strong concentrated amounts of it. The most I ever have is whats in the bottled green tea at the gas station. I guess my advice would be to make sure you have all the facts before you start on any drug/health supplement.
