Best 6.5 x 1.5 rear shock?
I need to replace my dead '97 rockshox deluxe rear shock. But to what, a new deluxe? Or should i make the jump to a sid air, or maybe a fox float r? new? used?
I use the bike for city use, and light xc riding. Price is an issue, i would like to keep it under $200 if posible.

Joe, that is pretty much just a personal choice on that one. You can get just about any brand and model under $200 used. I bought a used Fox Vanilla FLOAT on E-Bay for like 80 bucks. It has worked flawlessly for many miles. I have seen the FLOAT RC on there for 200 or so. SIDS sell for about the same. I know buying a new one can be costly, but used are pretty reasonable.
Just check around some, you will find one to your liking.

Joe, I'm not a big fan of air shocks, however, I'm a big guy and I like the smoother ride of a coil. However, I don't mind the extra weight of a coil over shock. My wife rides an air shock and hasn't complained about it at all! The air shocks had problems when they first came out, but the newer models are very reliable!
I've heard good things about the Cane Creek (AD-5 - I think!) I rode a bike with one on it and it felt good and was pretty smooth (not a smooth as a coil over, but smooth).
I'm also just not a big fan of RockShox products, I've had problems with both their forks and rear shox's, granted they took care of the forks under warranty and only $50 to rebuild the rear, but it was a couple of weeks downtime each time it happened!
