Trek vs Giant

Hi all, new to this forum but have a newbie question. I have been riding for quit some time however since I grew up and quit buying department store bikes I have only boughten Treks. I went from a 01 Trek 800 to a 01 Trek 6700 which I bought in the beg of 02.. both my dad and my wife have treks but my brother wants a Giant, more specific a 02 Giant Rincon mostly stock, only replacments are the front DERAILLEUR and the crank wich is a TruVativ.. He has just began to get into riding, from what i read that isn't a bad bike to start out with, I was just wondering what you all thought about Giants and compared to Treks.

Boughten? You mean bought. Buy, buying bought.

Okay anyways, I think giant's warranty and treks are just about the same. I think trek's customer service is better, but giant makes more bikes in the lower price range that trek wont make until they hit the 1500 dollar area. Like giant makes stp1 and stp2 which are good fr bikes, but trek, from my knowledge makes more trail bikes in this price section (500-1000).

Similar companies, similar products. Very little difference in mid to low range bikes. Until recently Giant had a leg up on trek for fr, burly trail and dh bikes. But trek this year is gonna slam giant into last year.

Basically...don't worry about it, the bikes are similar enough not to stress.. get the one the fits.
