Replacing a broken swingarm - options??

I've got a 2003 Trek Fuel 80 that was given to me after it was backed over with a car and the swingarm & back wheel were ruined (originally just to pull off the usable parts). I've never had a full suspension bike, and the rest of the frame is fine, so I considered replacing the swingarm and rear wheel and making it a whole bike again. The LBS just called and said Trek no longer makes that swingarm and they don't have any backstock, and that there are no other swingarms in the whole world that will fit.

Are there any other swingarm options that might work? I can always watch CL and ebay to try and find one with front end damage to get the part, but that seems pretty unlikely. Is this a lost cause or could some other swingarm be used instead?

On eBay right now:

https://cgi.ebay.com/Trek-Fuel-Full-C...item255d6d9db5

I wouldn't give up on the idea; but set it aside as a longer-term project and just keep watching eBay. Divorced front- and rear-triangles to frames show up at the oddest times and it just takes patience and a bit of luck. It also helps to know what to type in the search field: I typed in "fuel triangle" and turned up that and an '02 front. Good luck.

I saw that ebay listing just after starting this thread, so I'll keep an eye on it. I didn't realize that the swingarm from any Trek Fuel or Top Fuel from 2000 to 2006 would fit (according to the ebay listing). That makes this project seem much more plausible. Thanks for the advice.

Will be harder to find the swingarm though...that's usually what breaks first.

Oh, shucks, some time in the bench vise, a little fiberglas cloth and some JB Weld, and you could have that thing good as new.

You could take it to a Trek dealer with a good JRA story.

Bear in mind that the later or upper model rear triangles likely have a disc mount

"...yeah, I let Ed do the Leadville 100 on it. He started out in front but quickly got passed by Dave and was so pissed off that he chucked it at Lance's head...is that covered?"

I have one from a 2005 Trek top fuel 110 team issue that I'll be selling soon, this one came from a bike that was involved in a front accident but the rear triangle is good.

oh and I'm close to Frisco tx
