Anybody know any info about this bike?
Hi!
I'm buying a bike to commute to and from campus. I found this posting on craigslist. I'd really appreciate any information anybody can give me. I'm not entirely sure if this is the right forum to be posting this in, but I thought it would be most appropriate since this is a mountain bike. Thank you for reading this and for any help you can give me! Very low end - only good if you have a very short commute - 60 seems a bit high (if you have to change the tires and the chain it will cost you that much at least) - but if it's the best you can find for that price and is ridable, and you need a bike.........

Will be a good campus commuter.

It has two wheels.

Perfect 'SC commuter bike: clean enough to make for a pleasant ride; but with nothing on it desireable enough to strip. 5/8" cable through both wheels and the frame and a double-shackle padlock and you may even get to ride it for a while.

Thanks for the help! I got it down to $50. I am going to take it to the local bike shop for a tune up. I'm hoping it's plain enough to not get stolen, but my hopes aren't too high given the area I live in.
My beach cruiser got stolen 2 days ago. They cut the U-lock... but that's because I locked the bike to itself and just placed it on the rack. Thanks again! |
Flash $30 cash in the sellers face...they will take it while salivating.

If it works fine unless you really want to support your local LBS I wouldn't take it in for a tuneup. It looks like its probably friction shifting so its even less needed to take it in to make sure its working right. Honestly for a basic commuter $50 isn't bad at all. Thats probably about what I would have sold it for after tuning it up. The tires are not too bad for commuting either compared to what usually comes on cheaper "mountian" bikes. For what you are wanting it seems like a great bike.
