New Specialized mountain bike

I hope I made a good decision on a new bike. I had my LBS order a 2005 black Specialized rockhopper comp https://www.specialized.com/SBCBkMode...2sb0mq4.j27001 for me today. I have been using a gt timberline bike for about 6 years now , but it is showing it's age and it was getting annoying running over bumps and stuff with no front suspension. I don't do any extreme jumping or anything and need a good all around bike for trails, bike paths, and around town sometimes. I am 6'1 200 lbs and from some reviews I have read for the older models of this bike some reviewers complained of the front suspension being a bit soft for anyone over 175lbs. But the 2005 model I ordered says it has a new shock which I hope will be better. The fork is a Manitou Splice Comp, 100mm travel so I hope this is good for my needs. ANyone have opionions on this bike?

splice should be decent. Manitous first attemps at strong 'cheap' forks. First year fork and damping though so we will see.

Good choice otherwise. Good consistent bike

did you get the black punk paint job? is that racist? is that for real? how do they come up with this stuff?

i have the 04 rockhopper comp disc and i love it - eventually i do want to replace the front suspension - it seems a bit too squish for me - but whateva its a fun ride and pretty good parts all around. Have fun with it bro.

It is black and has grafitti type writing. I am not sure how you make the jump to it being racist.

I did get the black punk color shwaxinator. I don't know why they call it black punk, but it didn't strike me as anything racist. Don't know why they didn't just call it black though lol. Well you guys seem to think it's a fairly decent bike, so I think I will be happy. It's certainly an improvement over my 6 year old gt bike anyway. I'll test it out when it comes in this week and let you know how it goes.

yeah - didn't mean anything by what I said about the paint, sarcasm is useless in the internet world. Anyways - good luck with your bike, my first thing to upgrade on my rockhopper is the wheelsets. D@MN HEAVY right now. Everything else is definetely ace until I break it and GET to buy something better.

peace
