Inexpensive aluminum bash...has to be good, thick, and tough.
e.13 bash rings suck the life out of anything sacred when it comes to drivetrains. They are fragile. I tagged mine on a log when I wasn't even on the bike...(hike'a'bike)...when I lost my footing. Now it's got spiderweb cracks all up'n'down that schizzle! This is the new style e.13 a'la Dannihilator's ride.
I always use a torque wrench. My old clear poly bash had spiderweb cracks that originated at the bolt holes. I always use a torque wrench. They look like over tightening cracks because I never even smacked that daggum thing on squat. I always use a torque wrench. I'm sick of disposable crap produced from companies relying on their earned reputation...and then producing crap to save money. I need a decent aluminum bash at a decent price. I'd prefer it to be thicker than some silly chain-keeper singlespeed POS. I still want it to serve the purpose of a bash...though I rarely bash. So: Cheap Tough Light isn't important. Go! |
They aren't cheap-cheap but they are super-durable. Syncros store (http://store.syncros.com/products/ca...1.1.56.0.0.0.0) has their zoot-capri-bling chromed alus still for a little over 50. Ed, you know what a hack I am and how much stuff I've cased/creamed/smacked with mine and it still found its way to my new rig over the brand new one that came with my MRP.

I knew you would go there, D. It's my "backup plan". I like them, but $50 for a bash that I probably won't even bash is a bit over the top.
I was thinking more along the lines of the FSA for $28 http://www.universalcycles.com/image...edium/3743.jpg |
RF Atlas is $30

Of the two, go with the FSA. I've had one before (on the AS-X) that I also beat mercilessly. IIRC, it's extra-wide (5mm?); plus it has those directional, rounded 'saw-teeth' to give it a little bit of bite going over logs and stuff.

What's wrong with a little spiderwebbing? This one's been holding together for a few years now...

Def nothing wrong with it...except for the spiderweb on the "Turbocharger" is all the way through and there's some floppiness to it. I still have the Supercharger on the crapper though.
